Introducing our August Book of the Month!
Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again by Rachel Held Evans
If you have ever wondered if the Bible is literal or inerrant, what it actually is or how to read it, this book is for you!
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Inspired by Rachel Held Evans is one of the main reasons I wanted to write Better Ways to Read the Bible, and it’s been such an honor to hear that they’ve become companion guides for so many people as they navigate reconstruction.
Honestly, this is the book I quote the most when I preach and it’s probably the book I have recommended most frequently to those going through the deconstruction and reconstruction process at my church. Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the book:
“Dignified or not, believable or not, ours is a God perpetually on bended knee, doing everything it takes to convince stubborn and petulant children that they are seen and loved. It is no more beneath God to speak to us using poetry, proverb, letters, and legend than it is for a mother to read storybooks to her daughter at bedtime. This is who God is. This is what God does.”

I would love a copy of Inspired because I have been doing a lot of deconstructing lately. I find that the more I learn the less I know. Inspired sounds like a very good book to help me on my journey. I would also love to pass this book on to my sister who has questions of her own.
I'd love to read this book, Inspired, because it's highly recommended by Zach! That's all I need to know 😜
