How our church became a beacon for those longing for Christian spirituality while denouncing the harm done by Christian Nationalism, LGBTQ+ exclusion, racism, and more
Thanks for sharing! I've ordered the participant guide (and it comes with a code to view the videos- at least for a limited time it says). I already have the book!
I serve The Anglican Church of Australia which maintains a non-exclusion policy so the welcome to all is truly unconditional. As it should be. Just as Christ did.
Inside the front cover of the parish service booklet is depicted, in equal size, the Australian Aboriginal flag, the LBGTQ+ flag, the Diocesan emblem, the Anglican Communion emblem and the Australian flag alongside each other.
One's personal leanings, be they political, sexual, situational etc. is known only to God.
We come as equals before God without labels attached. It's God's holy Church after all, not ours🌱
I'm moved by Mariah crying for the first 30 minutes, not from sadness, but from the sheer relief of being seen without asterisks. That's not a small thing. It's what the church was always supposed to be and so rarely is. A community where the communion table invitation includes 'you who have much faith and you who would like to have more' isn't lowering the bar. It's finally reading the guest list correctly.
If you are looking for more Christian devotional material, or perhaps football (soccer) articles with faith tie-ins, please check out my new publication: https://substack.com/@joelpersell
