White women’s tears have caused a world of harm.
When I first heard the phrase “White women’s tears,” I asked my husband what it meant. I stood in my kitchen, heat burning up my neck as he described how White women have used their tears to silence Black people. We got into an argument about it. I didn’t want to be lumped in with women like that.
I wasn’t like that. What an offensive term.
