I admire all that you do. I have preordered your book and plan to suggest it for a fall book discussion at my Lutheran church in Laurel, MD. My sister and I have friends in the Austin area; we will definitely include a visit to your congregation when we can.
May you feel empowered by the Holy Spirit as you continue your ministry.
This doesn’t read like a psalm. It reads like a courtroom transcript between heaven and the ones left bleeding at the border fence.
Zach, thank you for naming the darkness without dressing it up in respectability politics. Too many prayers these days are edited for polite company. But this one? This one throws the temple tables.
"Christ's compassion buried beneath nationalism"—that line alone could crack stained glass.
May more of us learn to pray like this. Loud enough for the detained to hear. Bold enough to bother the comfortable.
Zach, do I have your permission to share this at my church’s next dinner church? I will give you full credit. No problem if you’re not comfortable with that. The Spirit was obviously flowing through you when you wrote it.
This is beautiful Zach! Thank you for giving words to the prayer of our hearts and for bearing witness. "We still believe light conquers darkness...Do it through us."
Thank you for this Zach. It certainly resonates with me. Earlier this year I read through each Psalm in the Bible, and so many were about defeating foes or fixing unrighteousness and it made me wonder why God hasn’t responded to those misusing his name.
This is beautiful and much needed today. I often feel lost and unsure how best to help and share my love in Christ; your post shares a common thread we all feel and how we can become the candlelight for others in darkness.
My morning mantra: “Show me who to be, and what is mine to do.”
I really love this, Kerry. We can't do everything, but we have to do something.

I might take this quote and use it for myself. What a great word.
Have you been peeking at my heart?
“Come Quickly Lord. Do it Through Us.” We are the hands and feet of God. Here. Now.
Help us to remember this every day Lord so that we may confront this evil and rid it of its menacing hold on our nation and on our spirits.
Amen, Kathleen. We have to remember that we are the hands and feet.

Amen and again I say: Amen.
Thank you for this, friend.
Come Lord, come. Come quickly, Lord, come quickly.
Amen.
Every word of this, Zach.
What must we do that we haven’t yet done? The burden is immense now. Please, forsake us no longer.
So glad it was encouraging, Angie. It was a very helpful exercise to walk through.

I would be honored 💙
Wonderful. Thank you.
Jesus demanded: the works that I do will you do also, and greater works than these.
Let's follow through.
Yes, we must!
you are the architect of justice... that hit something inside. perhaps i needed the reminder.
What a great psalm!!! Let's canonize it as 151st Psalm. Thanks, Zach

Powerful! I'm going to pray this Psalm.
Do it through us.

This was powerful. Thank you for sharing this.
