Yes! I've always said I believe in God, who can NOT be put in a box! He is more than our minds can fathom!
We don't have to get tangled up in rules, its a done deal, we can't make Jesus die again because we can't obey these rules! Live in the blessing of being free from mans rules, and allow OTHERS to do so also!
Oh my gosh Zach I love this SO much. I've never heard the covenants explained this way and it makes so much more sense to me. The charts were super helpful too!! Thank you for writing this! 🙌
This is an incredible chart of what significance Jesus has in our lives. I am a newly coined Vendantist, and what I am finding is there is a lot of correlation between the teachings of Vivekanada and the teachings of the Christ......although the "drapings" have different names and faces-the underlying messages are the same-to surrender to God whatever vessel he is manifested in. I find this easier to live with, as my "vessel" named as Jesus is a much more benevolent soul than the one I see hoisted by "Christians". I try to have these discussions and one such person told me that I have to believe in only Jesus or its Helltime for me. Its so disappointing as I believe Jesus is much better and bigger than that. Thanks for helping me understand more the underpinning of these failed dialogues. Jesus is still my guy and I am not feeling him turn his back on me because I see his words appear in other forms too.
YES! I’m teaching Hebrews in my Sunday School class right now, and I sense that some of the people struggle with the idea that the old covenant is “obsolete, and passing away.” They know that God wants our righteousness, and can’t see how that happens if we don’t have rules to follow. But that’s the role of the Holy Spirit. I love how you outlined all this so clearly.
I've been thinking alot about the role of prophets in calling out injustice. Thus article helps me see how the prophets also synch up with the covenants God provided fir people. Thanks!
That was so good. Many people seem trapped in their ideas of the old covenants, unable to progress to life under the new covenant, which makes all the previous covenants redundant.
I think the 10 Commandments are generally good advice and many of them are repeated as commands by Jesus, but they are not a part of the New Covenant. Some theologians break the Old Testament laws into categories like civil, ceremonial, and moral, making the case that we are still bound by the moral ones but not the civil and ceremonial ones, but those distinctions are made up and nowhere to be found in the Scriptures.
I love what you did here. Loved the charts. Thanks Zach!
You're welcome! And shoutout to Amy who made the charts. They are so helpful.

SO good, Leslie. Thank you!
As usual, you have told a very complex story so all can understand it. You are a gift and so is Amy- we are lucky to have you!
Thanks, Bill! Grateful for you too, my friend!
I love the article and I love the charts!
Thank you for this comment! :)
Wow. I will be reading this several times, and then bringing it to my deconstruction group.
Thank you!
That's great. You're welcome!

So glad it was helpful, Lynnette!
Thank you. I would clarify "we will live with him in paradise for eternity" to "he will live with us in new creation"

So glad it was helpful and thanks for being a Sunday School teacher! We need good ones like you in the church :)

That’s such an important connection to point out. Thanks, Alice!
Charts like yours are a great help. They are sure to be used.

What's your position on the decalogue?

I agree completely.
